Andrew’s passion and enthusiasm for boats began from a young age, being mainly interested in wooden built vessels of all classes and types, including sail and motor powered.
In 1996, Andrew gained his qualifications with City & Guilds and an NVQ in boat building, studying at Woolston Southampton College. Alongside his course he achieved his apprenticeship at Victoria Yachts and Emsworth Shipyard. During this time, it became apparent that his heart and skill set were drawn to wood work and traditional shipwright artistry.
Over the years after completing his apprenticeship Andrew worked for a bespoke joinery company and with ex local Shipwright Tim Gilmore of Dolphin Quay Emsworth.
The above paved the way for Andrew to make the brave move of setting up his own business and workshop at Aldsworths Farm, Westbourne.
Andrew Oliver Shipwrights was born.
Fortunately, in 2009 the opportunity to expand arose and Andrew and his team moved to the idyllic Emsworth Yacht Harbour where they remain.
For the past 12 years Andrew Oliver Shipwrights Ltd has earnt high praise and respect within the shipwright community; priding themselves on craftsmanship with an attention to detail.
